Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Vidarbha 50 — how rankings are compiled, which boards we cover, how schools can submit their toppers, and what makes inclusion on these lists rare. Top schools and board exam toppers from Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha, Akola, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Buldhana — every Vidarbha district — are eligible.

What is Vidarbha 50?
Vidarbha 50 is an annually published ranking of the Top 50 board exam scorers from the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, India. It covers four boards — Maharashtra HSC (Class 12), Maharashtra SSC (Class 10), CBSE Class 12, and CBSE Class 10. Each board has its own Top 50 list, with Class 12 boards split further by stream (Science, Commerce, and Arts or Humanities). Less than 1% of Vidarbha's board exam students appear on these lists.
Which districts does Vidarbha cover?
Vidarbha is the eastern region of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It comprises 11 districts: Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha, Akola, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Buldhana. Vidarbha 50 ranks the top board exam scorers from schools and junior colleges across all 11 districts.
How are toppers ranked on Vidarbha 50?
Rankings are based purely on percentage scored in the board examination, exactly as printed on the marksheet issued by the board. Where boards include sports or co-curricular extra marks in the printed percentage, those are accepted as-is. Dense ranking is used: students tied at the same percentage share the same rank, and the next percentage receives the immediately following rank number. Within a tied rank, names are listed alphabetically by first name.
Why only Top 50?
The Top 50 cap creates genuine scarcity. Out of tens of thousands of board exam students across Vidarbha each year, only the absolute highest scorers appear on each list. This makes inclusion an authentic mark of academic distinction — both for the student and for their school.
Is Vidarbha 50 an official board ranking?
No. Vidarbha 50 is an independent journalistic compilation. Neither the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education nor the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) publishes their own region-wise Top 50 lists. Vidarbha 50 fills that gap by aggregating data from school-issued press releases, official marksheets, and direct submissions, then ranking them transparently by percentage.
How often are the rankings updated?
Rankings refresh automatically every six hours. As schools submit fresh topper data after results are declared, new entries are extracted, deduplicated, and re-ranked into each list. The countdown timer on each results page shows the time until the next refresh.
How can a school submit their toppers' details?
Schools and junior colleges can submit their toppers by emailing journalistbuddy@gmail.com. Acceptable formats include school press releases (PDF, Word document, or images), the official school letterhead listing students with percentages, or a structured list with student names and marks. Each submission must include the school name, branch (if applicable), city, and a contact phone number for verification.
Can parents or students submit their own marks?
Vidarbha 50 only accepts submissions from schools and junior colleges to maintain data integrity. Parents who believe their child should be ranked but is not yet listed should ask their school to forward the topper details to journalistbuddy@gmail.com. The school's official communication is the verification mechanism.
Why isn't my school's topper on the list?
Most commonly, the school has not yet submitted the data. Vidarbha 50 cannot list a student until the school sends the press release or topper details. If you are a school principal or correspondent and believe your topper should be ranked, email journalistbuddy@gmail.com immediately and the entry will be added in the next refresh cycle.
What is the difference between SSC and CBSE Class 10 here?
SSC (Secondary School Certificate) Class 10 refers to the Maharashtra State Board examination. CBSE Class 10 is the national board examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Both are Class 10 exams but are administered by different boards, follow different syllabi, and are graded on different scales — so Vidarbha 50 publishes them as two separate Top 50 lists.
What does "best of both" mean for CBSE Class 10?
From 2026 onwards, CBSE has introduced a two-exam format for Class 10 — students sit for two board exam attempts and the higher of the two scores is treated as the final result. CBSE Class 10 rankings on Vidarbha 50 will use this best-of-both approach, ranking students on whichever attempt produced their higher percentage.
Are the toppers on Vidarbha 50 verified?
All entries are sourced from official school communications — press releases, letterheads, or official statements signed by school authorities. Where a contact number is provided, individual entries can be verified directly with the issuing school. Vidarbha 50 cross-references multiple submissions to detect and resolve any duplicate or conflicting entries before publication.
Is Vidarbha 50 free to access?
Yes. Vidarbha 50 is fully free for parents, students, schools, journalists, and the public. There are no paywalls, no subscriptions, and no advertising on the rankings pages. The site exists as a public service to spotlight academic excellence across the Vidarbha region.
When are board results typically declared?
In the 2026 cycle, Maharashtra HSC (Class 12) results were declared on 2 May 2026 and Maharashtra SSC (Class 10) on 8 May 2026. CBSE Class 12 and CBSE Class 10 results are typically declared in May each year. Vidarbha 50 begins ingesting topper data the same day each board's results go live and updates rankings continuously thereafter.
Who topped the board exams in Nagpur and Vidarbha in 2026?
The Top 50 Maharashtra HSC (Class 12) and Maharashtra SSC (Class 10) toppers from Nagpur and across Vidarbha are listed live on Vidarbha 50, updated every six hours as schools submit results. Toppers from all 11 Vidarbha districts — Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha, Akola, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Buldhana — appear on the same lists, ranked purely by board exam percentage.
Which is the top school in Nagpur for board exams?
The most reliable indicator of a Nagpur school's academic standing is how many of its students appear on Vidarbha 50's Top 50 lists. Schools with multiple toppers across Maharashtra HSC, Maharashtra SSC, CBSE Class 12, or CBSE Class 10 are typically the strongest performers in Nagpur. Visit each board's page to identify which Nagpur schools dominate the 2026 rankings.
Which schools have the most toppers in Amravati, Wardha, Akola, and other Vidarbha districts?
Vidarbha 50 ranks individual students rather than schools, but the schools with multiple students appearing on each Top 50 list — across Amravati, Wardha, Akola, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Buldhana — are the highest-performing institutions in their respective districts. Browse each board's ranking page to see which schools recur most often.
Does Vidarbha 50 cover districts other than Nagpur?
Yes. Vidarbha 50 covers all 11 districts of the Vidarbha region: Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha, Akola, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Washim, and Buldhana. A topper from any school or junior college in any of these districts can appear on the rankings, provided their school submits the data.
Who is the rank-1 student in Vidarbha for HSC and SSC 2026?
The rank-1 topper for each board appears at the top of the corresponding list on Vidarbha 50, displayed in a gold gradient row. For Maharashtra HSC (Class 12), rank-1 is shown separately for Science, Commerce, and Arts streams. For Maharashtra SSC (Class 10), there is a single rank-1 topper across the region. CBSE Class 12 and Class 10 will publish their rank-1 toppers once those board results are declared.
